Andrew Lyon
WHO AM I
I'm a 23-year-old graduate of the mean streets of suburban northwest Austin and at the time of this publishing will have served as a loyal pedicabber for the downtown entertainment for one year.
Excluding a brief foray into the backwoods of the Idaho Panhandle I have lived in Austin my entire life. I attend community college when the concept of achieving higher education strikes my
fancy, usually on a yearly basis, and I'm majoring in 'Government' but my other interests are foodservice management, writing and journalism. (I'm a licensed food manager and ran a non-profit
commercial kitchen for three years.)

INTERESTS
I really like reading and writing. I don't read too much fiction but the latest books I've read have been a war junkie's memoirs of touring war-torn Yugoslavia in the early 1990s; former
Secretary of State George Schultz's memoirs of his service from 1982 to 1989; a biography about the presidency of former President Nixon; and I'm currently reading about how French and Belgian
colonialism completely wrecked the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries. Also, the Onion is great satire. I don't watch too much TV unless it's something from HBO but I do
like raiding used movie and CD selections at Half Price Books and Waterloo Records and learning song lyrics because I love to sing. The biggest crowd I've sung to was some 70 and it was on a
lark.
MUSIC
Music is life. If it weren't for file-sharing I wouldn't own so many CDs and be exposed to so many bands. I like James Blackshaw, Built to Spill, DJ Spooky, Devin Townsend's bands, Tom Waits,
Swans, Radiohead and anything on Constellation Records.
MOVIES
Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese are two of my favorite directors, and some of my favorite other movies are . . . umm, next!
BOOKS
Some books I read that have stuck with me most are Tim O'Brien's 'The Things They Carried,' Joseph Heller's 'Catch-22,' and anything by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr and David Foster Wallace.
